Note your wallet balance before you pay, keep the receipt reference, then compare the balance with the new entry in your transaction history.

- Step 2
- Pay and keep the receipt

- Open the transaction history
- Step 4
- Compare balance, entry and inbox
- Step 5
- Chase only a deduction with no entry
Before you pay anyone, check your GCash balance, because that one figure is what makes a missing amount easy to trace later. The method is the same for any merchant: note the balance, keep the receipt, then match the balance to the entry in your history. It works whatever the payment was for, and it feeds the checks on the bank transfer overview page.
The rest of this page describes screens only as GCash’s and Maya’s own help pages describe them.
| At a glance | |
|---|---|
| Time needed | About 2 minutes per payment |
| You need | Your wallet open, the receipt reference |
| GCash record | Transactions, last 90 days, 15 at a time |
| Older GCash record | Emailed PDF, date range up to 4 years |
| Maya record | In-app transaction history |
Before you start
Make sure the wallet you will pay from is the one you are checking, and that you know its room. A balance cannot rise past the cap of its profile, so read the GCash and Maya wallet limit figures if you expect a large credit. GCash also says confirmations arrive by different channels depending on the service, so know where to look.
- Scan to Pay by a customer gets an App Inbox or push notification.
- Online payments get an SMS and an App Inbox message, and the SMS covers successful and refunded transactions.
- A failed bank transfer gets an SMS.
That channel table is from GCash’s page on the shift of SMS messages to the App Inbox.
Step by step: GCash balance and record
- Note the balance before you pay. Write the figure and the time.
- Pay, then keep the receipt with its reference number. Screenshot any error text.
- Open Transactions in GCash and find the new entry. Tap Load More if you need older ones, since GCash loads 15 at a time and holds 90 days in the app.
- Compare the balance with the entry. The balance should have dropped by the amount, and the App Inbox or SMS should confirm it.
- If money left your balance and no entry appears, wait the stated window before you act. GCash’s help page says a QR payment still being checked can show an Adjustment within 24 to 72 hours.
GCash states the basic test on its page for payments that are unsuccessful but deducted: check the App Inbox or the Transaction History, then check whether the wallet balance shows a deduction. No entry and no deduction means nothing went through.
Check your Maya balance and history
The Maya balance works the same way, with Maya’s own screens. Maya’s help page says transactions should appear in your in-app transaction history in real time, though cut-off periods and the method used, such as PESONet or InstaPay, can change the timing. InstaPay transactions should appear in real time, and PESONet follows a posting schedule.
- Note the Maya balance before you pay.
- After paying, open the transaction history and read the status: successful, pending or unsuccessful.
- Keep the receipt. Maya’s transfer page says you can view the receipt as proof of the transaction and get an in-app confirmation message.
- Match the reference number on your receipt with the one on the other side.
For a transfer to a bank or wallet, Maya also suggests checking the receiving side’s overall balance and offline transaction history, because an amount can be credited even if the banking app’s history is missing it.
What happens next
Most payments end at step 4 with a matching balance and entry. A pending entry resolves on its own, and an unsuccessful one returns the money, for example within 2 banking days on Maya.
If the payment came back, the transaction reversal causes page lists why. The wallet sides of each rail are on the GCash casino payment notes and Maya casino payment notes pages.
Common errors
The balance dropped but the history shows no entry.
Wait the stated window, 24 to 72 hours for a GCash QR payment from balance. Then contact GCash support from the app with the amount, date and time, and the reference.
The history shows two entries for one purchase.
GCash says to file a separate ticket for each charge with a screenshot of each. One is usually rejected as the valid payment, and the duplicate is confirmed for reversal.
The entry is missing on the receiving side but successful on yours.
Ask the receiver to check the overall balance and a PDF statement. If it is still missing after 2 banking days, contact the receiving bank or e-wallet with your reference.
FAQ
Where do I see a GCash payment record?
GCash's help page says you can view the past 90 days of transactions in the app under Transactions, loaded 15 at a time. Its inbox and history are the two places to confirm that a payment was successful. Older records come by email as a PDF for a date range of up to 4 years.
How do I know a GCash payment did not go through?
GCash says that if the transaction is not in your Transaction History and there is no wallet deduction, it was unsuccessful and did not go through. If your balance was deducted but no record appears, GCash says it may need to look into it further.
Does a Maya payment show up straight away?
Maya's help page says transactions should appear in your in-app history in real time, and InstaPay transactions should appear in real time. PESONet follows a posting schedule, so a PESONet transfer can show later. If it is still missing after 2 banking days, Maya's chat is the next step.
What should I keep after paying a merchant?
Keep the receipt and its reference number, a screenshot of any error, and the amount, date and time. These are the details both wallets ask for when you report a payment that did not reflect.
